The Eurekan Explorer's Guide to Warped Lockbox Farming

With this page, I aim to create an easy checklist list of where to farm for certain lockboxes in Eureka if you are at the Elemental level cap. Written from an individual's Aether Data Center experience! *Disclaimer: while the maps are fairly accurate, some maps not have each mutation listed as they are older maps. This guide is a summary of many guides and experiences by players farming boxes. This guide exists thanks to them.To keep things simply listed, day is between 6AM - 6PM Eorzean time and Night is between 6PM - 6AM Eorzean time. If a mob requires both certain weathers and times to mutate, it will be listed with a +.Drop rate is affected by other parties and players attacking your mobs, but to what extent is not known yet. You will get Less Boxes if you farm with 2 parties on the same mobs. This guide was published @ August 2021 and is updated randomly.

What are Warped Lockboxes and how do I get them?

Warped lockboxes are rare drops from Mutated enemies in Eureka. You can find them in Pagos and onwards, and the zones have their respective 'warps'. These boxes contain some rare items that do not drop from the normal boxes in the zones, so people like to farm them for loot and gil.Mob mutations are only guaranteed in Hydatos! In Pagos and Pyros they will not always mutate, even under the right conditions. Mutations will also not always drop a warped lockbox. The drops are all personal, meaning that one person in the party could get 7, while another person got 13 from the same amount of kills.Cold-warped Lockboxes drop in Eureka Pagos.
Heat-warped Lockboxes drop in Eureka Pyros.
Moisture-Warped Lockboxes drop in Eureka Hydatos.
A mutated mob will usually get different abilities, grow in size and sometimes switch element. ( & VERY SOMETIMES, specific types grow in level, like the 24>25 pagos wolves!)The mobs that drop warped lockboxes need to be above your level for them to drop. Higher level mobs and mobs that require a weather condition will have a higher droprate than mobs that are low level and have no specific conditions. Mobs that spawn NM's will never mutate.Mobs mutate generally after you dps them down to 70-80% of their original health, at which point they'll start casting 'Mutation'. This can be stunned with things like a stun, holy, paralyze L III, but if you want a chance at the boxes they drop, you'll have to let them finish the cast and let them get the 'Mutated' buff before they die. Once they have that buff, you can safely kill them as fast as possible. The chain of killing enemies in a row also matters! Chain kills and box chances go in terms of tiers, with the lowest tier being the 1-10 chain, the middle tier being the 10-20 chain, and the tier with the highest droprate being in the 20-30 chain.
In a zone like pagos where mutations are rare, it can be very beneficial to keep mutations alive until you reach the last tier on the chain, whereas in pyros and hydatos it is often more efficient to kill enemies as fast as possible.
Some mobs drop more than one box at certain amounts of chain (like the lvl40 Pagos Chimeras, which can drop between 1-3 boxes at a 30 chain kill!).Furthermore, box farming is a great way to help people who are right below the level cap for the zone get powerleveled, or to obtain light.

Pagos

pagos sux lol byeeeeeeeePagos is known for its low rate of mutations and farms tend to work differently here from Pyros and Hydatos.Because of the low mutation rate, parties tend to keep the mutated mobs alive for the higher tier chain kills, with specific mobs like the Chimeras and Griffins having a mutation saved for the 30 chain kill specifically. Personally I believe parties that bring an off tank to seperate the mutated mobs from the non-mutated ones is very helpful here.Special loot from Cold-Warped Lockboxes includes:- Ballroom Etiquette - Insufficient Petticoats (/shiver emote) the thing everyone wants!
- Chainmail Hanger (tabletop housing item)
- Crossed Halberds (wall-mounted housing item)
- Golden Hakutaku Eye (crafting material)
- Wind-up Tarutaru (minion)
- oh and idk i guess a lot of dissapointment grade VI materia but who wants those

39Greater AmphitereFire → Lightningcassie nearby. pretty good droprate in 20-30 chain, mutates fairly often. can kill ymirs as chain fodder.Thunderstorms
40Val GriffinWind → Firetrue sight aggro, nearby cassie mobs/in louhi cave. they like to wander around and attack random party members, even if an off tank pulls them away. difficult to manage their HP if you are aoe'ing as a partyFair Skies
40Pagos ChimeraLightning → IceBest Girl. drops between 1-3 boxes garantueed on 30 chain, so have an OT pull the mutated ones away for high tier chain kills. can have someone pull dinos for chain fodder if it's night, if you dare.Blizzards

Pyros

In Pyros I recommend bringing appropiate logos and an Ele+2 tank for higher level mutations. Or don't, your funeral. Do thunder, umbral winds or snow. Unlike Pagos, you don't need to keep the chain as much in mind, and can speedkill thru mobs as you please.Read the logos section for more detailed notes on what actions and essences/wisdoms to bring.Special loot from Heat-Warped Lockboxes includes:- Tactical Logograms so many. so many tacticals
- Dhalmel Calf
- Samurai Barding
- Ballroom Etiquette - Ideal Gossip (/scheme)

Hydatos

Hydatos is IMO the easiest zone to farm in, as all mobs that can mutate will do so if meeting the right conditions for weather/time. At the time of writing, Wyverns are popular to farm on and NA DC's have parties daily.Technically, it is even possible to farm 24/7 in hydatos if you only did wyverns/peistes.In Hydatos, bringing good dps is absolutely necessary though, if you want to efficiently farm the highest level mobs.Special loot from Moisture-Warped Lockboxes includes:
- Tactical Logograms

How to play your class during a box farm

Farming differs somehwat between Pagos and the other two zones, so I'll write out general tips and experiences I've had.Like almost every other type of content, food helps. Being geared helps, but is not always a requirement. The fairy buff from the elementals gives you a 10% dps increase and a regen as well, so it's often useful to zone in a little early to find one. Mark it with a waymark, group up and all party members can take the buff together. The fuller the party, the easier it will be to farm fast.Tanks and Red tanks (more on this later) definitely need gear if you plan on pulling fast and big. Pagos is somewhat more lenient, but if you plan on seperating mutations for later chain kills, it really helps to have an off tank so your party doesn't need to hold back DPS as much to prevent accidental mutation kills. In Pyros and Hydatos, Logos actions are pretty much a must. All party members are capable of bringing raise/shell/protect L and a phoenix down, which can be useful if someone unexpectedly dies, or if you opt to go without a healer. On every class I play, I like to use eurekan potions to sustain extra healing and use them pretty much on cooldown if I am tanking.TANKING
At the moment of writing, many parties in Hydatos and Pyros have the party stay somewhere safe, and have two tanks pull mobs towards them, where they'll quickly burst them down. Macros and respawn timers from mobs can both be coordinated to sync up the pull.
OFF TANKING
Pagos specifically. An off tank provokes the mutated mobs away from the rest of the party, so they can keep DPSing their hearts out and not worry about AOE's killing them early on accident. You won't need to be super geared for this, as you'll likely not have more than 1-4 mobs to worry about.
HEALER
As a healer you keep the tanks and dps alive, and if you play WHM, don't use holy as it will stun mutations. As healers generally do the least dps, we prefer them to bring actions like protect and shell. On tankier mobs, healers can bring bravery for an extra 10% dps.
RANGED
ngl i have little experience playing this. DNC needs to be careful in mobs with cleaves, as they need to stand in the middle of the mobs.
CASTER
same as above, little experience here. squishy, but you can stay away from mobs as most of caster's damage is ranged
MELEE DPS
Melees are the tankiest dps. If you get low on health somehow, heal up with bloodbath. DE is a stacking damage buff that deals more damage over time, so you use it when mobs are rounded up. Try to plan it so that you can get the most out of your high DE stacks (8-16) while finishing the mobs off fast.
MELEE TANK
With Platebearer and Protect+Shell L, elemental + 2 geared MAIMING classes will mitigate about 96% of physical damage and 84% of magical damage. THIS IS FOR DRG AND RPR SPECIFICALLY. OTHER MELEE CLASSES DO NOT MITIGATE AS MUCH. source
So sometimes, parties like to farm as 'all melee'. This means that the party will have two maiming DPS pull and tank mobs, while the rest of the party also consists out of (generally maiming or melee) DPS. The good thing about this is that melee parties don't need as many people in it to successfully farm. You can take down the highest level mobs with less people. The downside is that double edge is expensive and you will definitely need gear on some people, and plan out how to get Protect L on everyone. Something else to keep in mind is that you are not a tank with much aggro, so it's easy to get other party members killed if they are also not PB users.I recommended having someone protshell everyone at the start, then when you swap yout your Platebearer + DE (PB DE) someone else protshells everyone again, etc. etc. Tell everyone to bring a phoenix down just in case too.If you tank, Fairy buff, pots, Spirit of the remembered will all help to keep you alive. If you DE, pop bloodbath at about 7-9 stacks in, as late as possible. This will allow you to keep sustaining heals through the worst part of the damage.

ClassLogos to bringTips
TankWisdom of the Guardian, Bloodbath, Wisdom of the Indomitable, Double Edge, Wisdom of the MartialistGuardian + BB is the default combination for tanks, whereas a Mart + BB would deal more damage. If you hold any type of aggro, get at least a BB in there. Mitigate a little while pulling, and once you have them rounded up, use bloodbath to sustain.
HealerPROTECT L, Shell L (if mobs do magic attacks), Wisdom of the Platebearer/Aetheweaver/Templar/Ordained, Refresh L/Bravery if you feel sweatyNo holy allowed. watch out if you are healing a party that tackles mobs with cleaves. keep protect L/shell L up on all party members, and reapply it if they die.
CasterWisdom of the Elder, Wisdom of the Skirmisher, magic burst lolkeep your distance from mobs, spread out. rez mages please rez.
RangedWisdom of the Fiendhunter, Wisdom of the Skirmisher, maybe spirit dart (to rip aggro lol)don't stand inbetween mobs and the tank if u can. no stuns. no interrupts. idk what a ranged can do tbh
MeleePlatebearer+Double Edge, Wisdom of the Duelist, Wisdom of the Skirmisher+Bloodbath. If you take platebearer + double edge you can zone out while dealing good damage. use melee bloodbath at 8> stacks of double edge to sustain. duelist/skirm/bb/de combinations need to watch what they're doing to not die.
